Securing Spaces at the Races

Over three days last week 58 000 people descended upon the North Western city of Chester for the May Boodles Festival. Situated outside of the historical town walls Chester Racecourse is wonderfully placed and the views of the course attracting tourists apart from the race attendees.

The barrier deployment services of StadiumTM were called upon on behalf of ATG Access for the event and shall do so for the rest of the race season. This has been one of the largest deployments of the Surface Guard and will be one of the largest continual deployments over a season.

In total within the roads surrounding the main entry to the course are eight separate deployments of the Surface Guard, totalling over 100m. This was the first ever deployment in Chester for the StadiumTM team and great work was carried out despite the warm weather.

The risk is high in crowded spaces for potential Hostile Vehicles still, for the sake of crowd movement, space and critical infrastructure it is a must for events to think and consider of such security measures.

To continually diversify the portfolio of events and our client base is something we are incredibly proud of. To know we’re protecting tens of thousands people on large scales to annual events is an incredible feeling and one that shall continue.
